Senior Manager, Ship Maintenance - Musv

Saronic · Defense · Austin, TX · Mission Services

This role is for a Senior Manager of Ship Maintenance at Saronic, a company focused on autonomous maritime platforms. The position requires extensive experience in commercial maritime MRO, ABS classification, and shipyard/vendor relations. The manager will oversee classification society compliance, maintenance execution, and commercial vendor relationships for a fleet of autonomous surface vehicles. Responsibilities include managing ABS surveys, drydocking operations, developing repair specifications, and establishing a Planned Maintenance System. The role requires hands-on technical competence in ship systems and commercial contract negotiation. While the company develops autonomous platforms, this specific role focuses on the physical maintenance and compliance of the vessels, not the AI/ML development itself.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own all ABS interactions: annual, intermediate, special, and drydock surveys; condition assessments; and class certificate maintenance
  2. Manage drydocking operations end-to-end — facility selection, docking plans, hull inspections, survey coordination, and undocking sign-off
  3. Build and manage Saronic’s commercial repair yard and ship husbandry vendor network across key domestic and forward operating regions
  4. Negotiate and administer commercial repair contracts and MSAs with private-sector shipyards and specialty subcontractors
  5. Develop repair specifications, work packages, and acceptance criteria grounded in ABS Rules and commercial practice
