Senior Manager, Silicon Sourcing

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Redmond, WA +2 · Sourcing Engineering

This role is for a Senior Manager, Silicon Sourcing at Microsoft, focusing on the supply chain for cloud infrastructure, including AI hardware. The responsibilities include driving strategic negotiations with OSAT partners for silicon test services, developing should-cost models, securing test capacity, contributing to sourcing strategy, managing supplier relationships, ensuring supply continuity, and leading procurement of manufacturing test hardware. The role requires experience in procurement, supply chain, or engineering, with a preference for semiconductor sourcing and test operations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive strategic negotiations with global OSAT partners for silicon test services, optimizing rate structures, TTR, incentive frameworks, and facility commitments to balance cost, capacity, and scalability.
  2. Develop and operationalize should-cost models for silicon test, leveraging test time, multi-site efficiency, and asset utilization to improve unit economics.
  3. Partner with Demand Planning and NPI teams to secure test capacity (equipment and labor) 1-3 years ahead of ramp, ensuring readiness and minimizing supply risk.
  4. Contribute to custom silicon sourcing strategy, partnering across Azure hardware, engineering, and supplier ecosystems to align on technology and capacity roadmaps.
  5. Build and manage executive-level supplier relationships across the semiconductor value chain (Foundry, OSAT, Substrate, Test) to enable performance, continuity, and alignment.
