Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Roadrunner

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Manufacturing : Autonomous Airpower Manufacturing Engineering : Manufacturing Engineering

This role is for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Anduril, a defense technology company. The focus is on the manufacturing and scaling of the Roadrunner product, a VTOL counter-UAS interceptor. Responsibilities include owning the manufacturing value chain, developing tooling, creating process flows, writing documentation, working with contract manufacturers, and contributing to hardware design. The role requires significant experience in manufacturing or electromechanical hardware design, with a preference for experience in autonomous flight vehicles. While the company uses AI and autonomy in its products, this specific role is centered on the manufacturing engineering aspects of a physical product.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain for a certain product or set of products
  2. Develop novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts
  3. Develop process flows, breaking down large, complex assemblies into a logical part flow of subassemblies and sub-processes
  4. Write documentation required for successfully manufacturing their hardware at scale, such as work instructions, quality plans, inspection requirements, etc.
  5. Work with contract manufacturers across various disciplines (PCBA fab, metallic manufacturing, assembly, etc.) to develop repeatable, sustained processes for quick-turn development as well as at-scale production
