Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Sydney, Australia. The role involves leveraging technical expertise to solve complex manufacturing challenges, drive technology insertion, and ensure manufacturability of next-generation products. Responsibilities include providing DFM/DFA feedback, analyzing risks, resolving production issues, developing work instructions, conducting root cause analysis, developing tooling solutions, assessing ECN impacts, supporting supplier qualification, and optimizing production line layouts. Requires 5+ years of manufacturing experience, a relevant Bachelor's degree, troubleshooting skills, Lean Manufacturing experience, GD&T understanding, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide expert Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback, influencing designs to ensure they are compatible with capable and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  2. Analyze engineering drawings, material selections, and tolerance stacks to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks early in the product lifecycle.
  3. Investigate and resolve production line-down situations, assembly problems, process deviations, and tooling issues to minimize downtime and maintain schedule.
  4. Provide clear and concise interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to the production team.
  5. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve detailed manufacturing work instructions, assembly guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure clarity, repeatability, and quality. Manage these requirements within Anduril’s MES.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, medical device, complex electronics).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical manufacturing issues and lead root cause analysis.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications, including a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, and senior management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (NV2).

Nice to have

  • Production line design and set up including Value Stream Mapping, material flow, workstation and tooling design.
  • Experience with work instruction authoring and MBOM configuration.
  • Experience with CAD software (NX, Solidworks, Siemens/Teamcenter).
  • Prior knowledge and interaction with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for production operations.
  • Prior knowledge of Oracle (ERP), Teamcenter (PLM) or similar systems.
