This role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for defense technology products, specifically manual assembly and dispensing operations. While the company utilizes AI and advanced technologies, this specific role is centered on manufacturing engineering and process development, not direct AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and optimize manual assembly processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and repeatability in a high volume, low-mix production environment
  2. Develop comprehensive manufacturing work instructions and process documentation with clear visual aids that enable consistent production quality
  3. Engineer and optimize dispensing operations for adhesives, sealants, thermal materials, and other critical applications
  4. Provide active lineside support during production, quickly addressing process deviations and implementing solutions to maintain production flow
  5. Drive issue resolution through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures to continuously improve manufacturing processes

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing process development
  • Expertise in creating clear, detailed work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
  • Experience optimizing manual assembly operations
  • Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing principles
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with dispensing technologies
  • Proficiency with CAD software
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems and digital work instructions
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
