Senior Manufacturing Support - Fabrications Planner - 3rd Shift

This role supports Manufacturing Engineers and fabrications on the plant floor by designing and documenting layouts, tooling, fixtures, handling systems, safety, and ergonomics. The position involves developing work orders, updating assembly procedures, creating documentation for budget accounts, and utilizing Caterpillar Production System principles. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication to ensure production efficiency.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide production support to the line as needed including: hydraulic troubleshooting, fixture troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and tooling calibration.
  2. Develops final work orders which detail processing steps and procedures, identified component parts, specifies technical aspects of part installation or application and identifies tooling or fixtures required for production.
  3. Performs changes and updates to standard work and other relevant assembly procedures based on Engineering input.
  4. May create documentation or requisitions required for both capital and expense budget accounts.
  5. Follows and utilizes Caterpillar Production System principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, Standard Work, PFMEA’s, SFMEA’s, and control plans.

Nice to have

  • Intermediate level (can train others) of knowledge of Standard Assembly tools and their applications
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in welding and fabrication operations
  • At least 1 year of experience in Project Management
  • Expert level of proficiency in recognizing or describing the mechanical functions and specifications of products and/or parts.
  • Expert level of proficiency working with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and geometrics
  • A basic understanding of AutoCAD/CREO
  • 2 or 4 yr. technical degree (i.e. Mfg. Technology, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering)
  • Operations/Industrial Planning Experience
  • Strong analytical skills
