This role is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Anduril Industries, a defense technology company. The engineer will focus on the design, development, and delivery of support systems for autonomous underwater vehicles (UUVs), specifically the Copperhead family. Responsibilities include mechanical design, vendor management, leading technical efforts, and collaborating with other disciplines. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of experience in maritime/aerospace/defense systems, CAD skills, and fabrication skills. Experience with robotic/autonomous systems and the defense/maritime domains is preferred. The company utilizes AI and autonomy in its products, but this specific role is focused on the mechanical engineering aspects of support systems.

What you'd actually do

  2. Develop mechanical solutions for support system components such as Launch and Recovery mechanisms, handling gear, transportation and storage solutions, and testing equipment
  3. Work to select, qualify, and manage vendors for commercial off-the-shelf components within support systems and for outsourced manufacturing/design of support systems.
  4. Own and drive mechanical systems and platform development, overseeing the process from initial concept to low rate production.
  5. Lead technical efforts to define requirements, propose possible solutions, and establish a methodology for evaluating and verifying support systems.
