Senior Mechanical Engineer, Space

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · AFS : Space Engineering

The Senior Mechanical Engineer, Space role at Anduril focuses on the hardware design of space systems, from concept to launch. Responsibilities include CAD, hand calculations, prototyping, subsystem design reviews, and acting as the Responsible Engineer for subsystems. The role requires a BS or higher in engineering or a hard science, strong CAD and fabrication skills, and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals. Experience with space hardware is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own hardware design (CAD, hand calculations, prototypes, etc) from concept generation to launch. Intelligently pace design maturity with an holistic view of the program.
  2. Use first principles as a basis for every decision. Continuously look for opportunities to simplify designs.
  3. Communicate pros/cons of system architecture with respect to design and packaging considerations. Strong focus on good architecture to ensure designs are robust in nature.
  4. Lead subsystem design reviews, present structures status to other team members, provide clear understanding of timelines and technical status.
  5. Act as the Responsible Engineer for your subsystem: Run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans.
