Boeing is hiring a Senior Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to join the Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) Team. The role involves developing, releasing, and maintaining technical data packages for developmental or flight hardware, supporting production, and designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies for missile defense systems. Responsibilities include developing and documenting mechanical designs and analyses, cost reduction proposals, test plans, and providing leadership and technical oversight. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 14+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, with knowledge of aerospace structures and materials. A U.S. Security Clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develops and documents mechanical engineering designs and analysis, including technical data packages, test plans, post-test reports, process specifications, and work instructions
  2. Develops cost reduction proposals, calculates return on investment, develops project requirements and schedules, and implements them into production
  3. Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  4. Supports on-going production activities and provides real-time support as non-conformances arise
  5. Supports engineering release processes to include program Configuration Control Board(s)

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 14+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering related role
  • Knowledge of aerospace structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
  • Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
  • Ability to digest functional requirements and apply them to the product
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment to produce high quality engineering products
