Senior Mechanical Technician II for Facilities at Caterpillar, responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of maintenance and facilities operations. This role involves hands-on repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems, and supporting continuous improvement projects. Requires strong customer interaction, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Use hand and power tools as well as other equipment to perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, painting, HVAC and other repairs and maintenance.
  2. Knowledge in the use and application of moderately complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  3. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  4. Perform regular preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment and systems.
  5. Adheres to established industry and enterprise standards, policies and practices relating to safety, quality, schedule, cost, accounting, purchasing and regulatory compliance in performing assigned duties.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years of experience in general maintenance or facility maintenance
  • Deep understanding and expertise in specific fields of facilities and maintenance such as plumbing, electrical, construction, HVAC (heating, ventilation, & air conditioning), and/or maintenance of building infrastructures
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical systems (AC/DC systems, relays, switches, fuses, breakers, motors)
  • Maintenance experience on overhead cranes, overhead doors, fabrication equipment (water jet, mill, lathe, etc.), and generators
  • Knowledgeable in cutting, grinding, welding, and fabrication
  • Able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and building drawings and schematics
  • Identify, specify, source and order supplies and equip
