Senior Merchandising Analytics Manager

This role focuses on developing and implementing analytics strategies for Chewy's pet insurance business, driving actions to identify and segment high-quality customers, increase sales and retention using scientifically based methods. It involves providing insights and decision-making frameworks for acquisition, product feature development, and customer lifecycle management. The role also supports analyzing pricing against competitors, leading the full cycle of analytical deliverables, and building scalable, automated data processes. Key responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert on pet insurance data modeling, system architecture, data governance, and business intelligence tools, and using technical expertise to develop new, reusable tools, models, and approaches. The role requires experience with structured programming, experimental design, statistical analysis, Python, and building automated data pipelines for model training jobs.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and implement analytics strategy for Chewy pet insurance business to drive actions to identify and segment high quality customers, increasing sales and retention using scientifically based methods and decision making.
  2. Provide insights and decision-making frameworks to drive acquisition (customer segmentation, price/coverage optimization, portfolio analytics, bundling behaviors, etc.), development of product features, and customer lifecycle management (claims behavior, cancelations).
  3. Support the business in building capabilities to analyze pricing vs. competitors.
  4. Lead the full cycle of analytical deliverables - ideation, data mining and analysis, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  5. Lead process with minimal direction.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field and 5 years of experience required as a Business Intelligence Analyst, or related position/occupation.
  • Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field of study and 3 years of experience required as a Business Intelligence Analyst, or related position/occupation.
  • Analytics or data science experience in the e-commerce industry
  • Structured programming language for aggregate functions, query optimization, stored procedures
  • Utilizing experimental design (A/B tests) and statistical analysis to drive business decision making
  • Python & Python tools (Jupyter notebooks, functions, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib or similar)
  • Building automated data pipelines to trigger and monitor batch data transformation, data transfer, and model training jobs
