Senior Performance/ Simulation/ Application Engineer

Caterpillar Caterpillar · Industrial · Mossville, IL

Senior Performance/ Simulation/ Application Engineer at Caterpillar, focusing on powertrain system simulation and performance analysis using tools like Dynasty, GT Suite, or AMESim. Responsibilities include integrating truck controls and plant models, executing performance studies, analyzing results for fuel consumption and productivity, and managing machine models. Requires a Master's degree and 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, with specific experience in controls model validation, software-in-the-loop setup, and using tools like Matlab/Simulink, CANape, and Python.

What you'd actually do

  1. Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems.
  2. Perform integration of truck controls and plant models of components and subsystems into a powertrain system model.
  3. Execute performance studies of L5 power system including subsystems, engine/battery, transmission/e-drivetrain, lower powertrain, hydraulic, thermal system using Dynasty (or equivalent software like GT Suite or AMESim).
  4. Work on truck machine system concept performance simulation to influence early product concepts and control software design decisions to improve existing products by resolving performance issues.
  5. Develop or improve simulation related processes and technologies.
