Senior Photonic Device Designer

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Photonic Device Designer to work on the development of novel integrated photonic devices for high-speed optical interconnect and sensing applications. The role involves chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and characterization, prototype construction, and testing. Requires MSEE or equivalent experience with 4+ years in silicon-based opto-electronics technologies, including silicon photonics device design, fabrication, characterization, high-speed optical modulators, lasers, detectors, electrical and optical testing, and familiarity with simulation and CAD tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work on the development of novel integrated photonic devices for high-speed optical interconnect and sensing applications.
  2. Conduct chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, and device evaluation and characterization.
  3. Perform prototype construction and checkout.
  4. Develop measurement methodology and apparatus to test and characterize the fabricated devices and perform experiments to demonstrate their ability in various potential applications.

Skills

Required

  • MSEE or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in silicon based opto-electronics technologies
  • Silicon photonics device design, fabrication, and characterization
  • High-speed optical modulators, lasers and detectors
  • Electrical and optical testing and statistical data analysis
  • Guided wave and free space optics including optical alignment and fiber-to-waveguide coupling
  • Lab experience with high-speed test equipment (AWG, DCA, VNA, BERT)
  • Simulation tools (Ansys Lumerical, ZeMax)
  • CAD tools (Cadence, MATLAB, Python)
  • Verilog-A scripting

Nice to have

  • PhD preferred
  • Familiarity with modern CMOS fabrication processes and concept is strongly preferred
