The Senior Principal, Digital Product Owner at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for owning and defining the vision, strategy, and business case for digital products within the Innovative Medicine division. This role partners with technical teams to prioritize features, govern releases, and track ROI and adoption against business objectives, ensuring solutions address business pain points and meet regulatory requirements. Experience in Pharmaceutical R&D/CMC/Manufacturing and agile delivery is required, with a preference for experience with GenAI and Agentic Automation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Ensure digital solutions directly address business pain points and support strategic outcomes for TDS product and process development.
  2. Own, articulate, and socialize the business case for the product, including value drivers, success metrics and value realization plans.
  3. Define and communicate the product vision, strategy and measurable outcomes from the business perspective.
  4. Partner closely with Technical Product Owner, development teams, subject-matter experts (SMEs), quality and change management to prioritize business features, balancing feasibility, compliance and value.
  5. Maintain the business roadmap (release plan, adoption milestones, impact metrics) and update stakeholders on progress and trade-offs.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or related industries
  • 5+ years product ownership or product management experience
  • Strong business domain knowledge and credibility within Pharmaceutical R&D / CMC / Manufacturing or adjacent regulated environments
  • Demonstrated experience owning business requirements, product outcomes, or digital initiatives
  • Ability to translate strategy into clear, measurable product outcomes
  • Working knowledge of agile delivery and product‑centric ways of working
  • Background in change management, adoption programs or operational excellence projects

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS/PhD) or professional certifications (e.g., CSPO, Product Owner, PMP)
  • Direct experience supporting CMC / Process Development digital solutions (e.g., LIMS, ELN, MES, lab automation, R&D informatics)
  • Experience with portfolio or program management tools and adoption analytics platforms
  • Experience with GenAI and Agentic Automation
