Senior Principal Software Engineer at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Media Services, responsible for designing, implementing, and operating cloud services for the digital media production industry. This includes virtual animation workstations, digital asset management, high-performance storage, render farms, and pipeline management. The role involves building scalable, highly available microservices and contributing to the overall OCI platform.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the engineering architecture and delivery of an assigned part of the software solution.
  2. Work collaboratively with other developers, architects, managers, and different Oracle teams to deliver anticipated features and drive the launching of new cloud services.
  3. Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent the team’s ability to execute.
  4. Drive engineering efforts and provide direction to other members of the team. Provide coaching and mentoring support to the organization.
  5. Develop long-term technical roadmaps. Defining OKRs and KPIs to inform decision-making and prioritization. Establish software development standards and processes.

Skills

Required

  • 10 years of software engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming in Java, C#, Golang, C++, or similar OO languages
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Solid understanding of developing customer-facing microservice-based architectures, tiered architectures, including virtualization, containerization, and REST API interfaces
  • Hands-on experience in building highly available, high-traffic, distributed services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
  • Familiarity with concepts such as availability, observability, scalability, testability, recoverability

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in utilizing public cloud services from major providers (Oracle, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Domain knowledge and experience with workflows and pipelines for media production – digital asset management and namespaces, familiarity with 3d frameworks, universal scene description, scene graphs, layers and models, 3d data packaging, rendering workflows, image composition, tools used in the workflow by artists, engineers, editors, and content creators
