Senior Principal Systems Administrator

Seeking an experienced Senior Principal Systems Administrator to work in a highly collaborative, multi-platform environment supporting classified programs. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance and mentorship, serving as a technical project leader, managing Windows/Linux infrastructure, servers, storage, and user support. Requires SME-level experience in Active Directory, VMware, NetApp, networking, backup/recovery, server architecture, troubleshooting, DevSecOps, containerization, and Kubernetes. Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance and obtain DoDD 8140/8570 certification within 6 months.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team.
  2. Serve as a technical project leader.
  3. Participate in meetings with team and customers, providing technical guidance and best practice to ensure successful outcomes.
  4. Experience provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Windows/Linux infrastructure for classified programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation support.
  5. Ability to assist with troubleshooting, patching, and support Windows, ESXi and Linux Systems.

Skills

Required

  • University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance
  • SME level experience with Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, NETAPP, networking administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, backup, and recovery enterprise suites
  • Experience with Server architecture and troubleshooting methods
  • Experience in DevSecOps, containerization, Kubernetes

Nice to have

  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Windows desktops (Windows 10, 11), Splunk and ESXi and/or other virtual computing methods
  • Scripting/ automation PowerShell, Bash
  • Architecture experience
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF
  • In-depth working experience in Windows Server
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment
  • Scripting Experience
