This role is for a Senior Privacy Product Manager within Microsoft AI (MAI) focusing on AI Search products. The individual will manage the strategy and execution of the privacy program, collaborating with engineering to ensure transparency, choice, and privacy management experiences. They will translate privacy regulations and standards into actionable engineering requirements, create and execute compliance plans, and identify/drive adoption of controls. The role requires experience applying privacy requirements to engineering solutions, particularly for AI/ML products and large-scale consumer services, and knowledge of major privacy regulations and the evolving AI regulatory landscape.

What you'd actually do

  1. Be the privacy advisor to engineering teams. Apply your privacy knowledge and background in developing user consents, data collection requirements, recommending data storage and processing approaches, and ensuring MAI products and services meet privacy requirements and business objectives.
  2. Translate privacy regulations and standards into actionable engineering requirements.
  3. Create and execute privacy compliance plans, working across compliance, business, and engineering teams to ensure deliverables are met.
  4. Identify, drive adoption of, and monitor the implementation of new and existing controls as needed for compliance or new regulations.
  5. Develop and maintain standards and policies, such as risk assessment templates, audit frameworks, oversight expectations, and reporting metrics.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
  • 5+ years of demonstrated technical and/or feature program management experience
  • 3+ years of practical experience creating and maintaining compliance programs and conducting privacy reviews
  • Demonstrated team and project management excellence on medium-to-large scale projects, including managing scope, schedule, and budget
  • Experience managing privacy, security, or audit compliance related engineering programs
  • Experience supporting privacy or compliance programs for AI/ML products, large-scale consumer services, or platforms handling personal data at scale
  • Working knowledge of major privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with the evolving global AI and data regulatory landscape
  • Hands-on familiarity with the engineering side of privacy: data flow mapping, data classification, consent infrastructure, DSR tooling, retention enforcement, and telemetry governance
  • IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior engineering and product leaders without direct authority, and to write crisply for both engineering and executive audiences
