Senior Product Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering

Google Google · Big Tech · Atlanta, GA +1

Senior Product Engineer role focused on architecting the transition from design to global manufacturing for Google's next-generation data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and accelerators. Responsibilities include owning the technical roadmap, defining Design for Manufacturing standards, steering manufacturing strategy, acting as technical authority for root-cause investigations of yield and field escape issues, and driving systemic improvements in operational efficiency. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with internal engineers and global partners to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness. While the team mentions AI and infrastructure, the core responsibilities are in hardware manufacturing and product engineering.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the end-to-end build, optimization, and deployment of high-complexity data center hardware platforms, including servers, storage, switches, racks, and accelerators, across global manufacturing partners.
  2. Architect design for manufacturing requirements and steer the overarching manufacturing strategy by engaging early in the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle to influence upstream architectural decisions.
  3. Serve as the executive technical authority for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) on manufacturing yield issues and data center field escapes, defining data collection activities to drive systemic preventive measures.
  4. Define and execute the design, optimization, and qualification of manufacturing processes for complex components and products, ensuring all hardware meets high-caliber performance and reliability standards.
  5. Drive cross-functional initiatives with internal engineers and manufacturing partners to improve product efficiency, broaden test coverage, and reduce operational costs through proactive product design and process changes.
