Senior Product Engineer, Networking and Optics

This role focuses on developing and manufacturing custom silicon solutions for Google's data center networking and optics hardware. The responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing partners, defining DFM requirements, managing NPI, analyzing yield issues, and leading qualification efforts. The role is within the AI and Infrastructure team, which supports Google's AI models and infrastructure at scale.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build, optimize, and deploy Google data center networking and optics hardware in collaboration with global manufacturing partners.
  2. Define Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements and serve as the technical liaison between Design and Manufacturing teams.
  3. Act as the Manufacturing product owner through New Product Introduction (NPI), managing product changes to enhance design and performance.
  4. Analyze and root-cause manufacturing yield issues and field escapes, driving corrective measures with Google and partner engineering teams.
  5. Lead qualification efforts to improve multi-source rates and support capacity expansion during NPI phases before transitioning to sustaining operations.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing of server, networking, or cloud infrastructure products.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • 10 years of experience in the development or manufacturing of server, networking, or cloud infrastructure products.
  • Experience developing manufacturing hardware using custom electronics, specialized fixturing, and advanced instrumentation.
  • Proven track record in NPI development or manufacturing specifically for tier-1 cloud service provider products or tier-1 enterprise customers.
  • Ability to collaborate with international teams and contract manufacturers, including the flexibility for international travel.
