Senior Product Quantitative Researcher, Cloud Security

This role focuses on quantitative product research within Google Cloud Security. The researcher will analyze user behavior using logs, surveys, and regression, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and build data sets and insights to inform business decisions. Experience with data engineering, data science, statistical methods, and programming languages like Python/R and SQL is required. Machine learning experience is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with Product, Engineering, and go-to-market (GTM) leadership to answer critical questions through rigorous data analysis.
  2. Conduct deep-dive analyses to understand user behavior, identify trends, and uncover opportunities for product growth.
  3. Apply statistical methods and modeling techniques to extract insights and build predictive models for product performance.
  4. Develop and monitor core metrics and dashboards to track user engagement and business outcomes.
  5. Design and maintain data pipelines that aggregate and enrich key product data to power scalable analyses.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience in product research in an applied research setting, or similar
  • Experience in programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, or Go)
  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above)
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and libraries
  • Experience with datasets and distributed computing systems such as Google Cloud Platform or BigQuery
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and extract, transform, load (ETL) processes to support product strategy
