Senior Program Manager - Customer Reliability Engineering

This role focuses on improving the reliability, security, and customer trust of the Microsoft Cloud, specifically within Azure. The Senior Program Manager will work with strategic customers to ensure their critical workloads are resilient and well-architected, analyze architectures to identify gaps, and drive improvements through proactive risk identification and targeted resiliency enhancements. The role involves managing customer engagements across the incident lifecycle, converting incidents into durable improvements, and influencing product design and roadmap priorities based on customer pain points and operational gaps. Success requires technical depth, executive communication, and the ability to navigate ambiguity to translate complex customer challenges into scalable solutions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as a trusted advisor for strategic customers, ensuring their most critical workloads are resilient, well architected, and aligned with Azure best practices.
  2. Drive measurable improvements in customer health through proactive risk identification, data driven assessments, and targeted resiliency improvements.
  3. Analyze customer architectures and operational patterns to identify gaps and recommend actions that improve reliability and operational maturity.
  4. Own customer engagement across the lifecycle - prevention, detection, incident response, and recovery – to improve resiliency and reduce recurrence of issues.
  5. Executive-level coordination and communication during critical customer events, driving clarity, alignment, and trust restoration.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
