Senior Relationship Management and Business Development role focused on managing business development in one or more countries, regions, or industries within the fintech sector. The role involves building and maintaining a sales pipeline, cultivating external relationships, and driving opportunities to expand business targets and revenue generation for Capital One's payment programs. It requires strategic account planning, proposal development, RFP response, negotiation, and managing client portfolios. The role also involves acting as a liaison, managing risk, and orchestrating internal resources to execute complex account strategies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Translate organizational goals into tailored account plans that identify and capture untapped growth opportunities, with new and existing acquirer partners. Own the end-to-end strategic account roadmap for our most complex and high-volume global acquirer partnerships. Strategically identifies leads, develops proposals, responds to RFP's and negotiates agreements to maximise network growth. Identifies and creates business cases to establish new development activities with internal (Risk, AML, etc...) and external industry partners.
  2. Serve as the strategic liaison between Capital One external accounts, by maintaining relationships with decision-makers, including executive-level, across company divisions of each participant. Securing alignment on strategic priorities and business cases. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues or complaints within the day-to-day role to management.
  3. Manages a portfolio of clients to retain, grow and drive existing and new business by exploring acceptance and volume growth.
  4. Manage and build relationships with existing strategic network participants. Maintain knowledge of partners, industry trends and competitive environment by performing market analysis and maintaining opportunity pipeline to recommend actions in improving Capital One’s position.
  5. Act as the central point of orchestration for internal resources. Rally and align cross-functional teams (Product, Risk, AML, Legal) to execute complex, multi-year account strategies without direct line management.
  6. Drives internal processes including; development of communications, account management, approval requests and contract negotiations, compliance and risk management.
  7. Performs market analyses and business development activities to increase network transaction volume and revenue generation.

Required

  • Passion for sales and relationship management
  • Ability to work on a pipeline to sign up new partners while simultaneously managing existing partnerships.
  • Hands-on approach, involved in planning, sales, and implementation.
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at the executive level to secure alignment on complex, strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Proven track record of signing up new partners from planning to closure.
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end ownership of high-value, complex portfolios, shifting from transactional to strategic partnerships.
  • Extensive experience working with Acquirers, Payment Networks, PSPs, including embedded finance, gateways or Payfacs, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the UK/European Payment landscape.
