Senior Research Software Development Engineer, Msr AI for Science

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · DE, Netherlands · Research Sciences

This role is in Microsoft Research's AI for Science team, focusing on transforming scientific discovery using large-scale deep learning. The Senior RSDE will architect, design, and implement scalable solutions for ML and scientific research, build distributed data processing and model training pipelines, and develop tools for training and optimizing ML solutions. Expertise in software engineering, distributed systems, and working with large datasets in cloud/HPC environments is required. Experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch is a plus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Architect, design, and implement scalable and robust solutions for machine learning and scientific research involving large volumes of heterogeneous data.
  2. Build and optimize distributed data processing and model building pipelines.
  3. Develop and maintain tools and technologies for building, training, optimizing, scaling machine learning solutions.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and software engineers.
  5. Document and share best practices across the organization.
