Senior Site Reliability Engineer responsible for ensuring the uptime, resilience, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365's Substrate platform. This role involves leading incident response, enhancing observability, defining reliability metrics (SLIs/SLOs), conducting live site reviews, engineering for prevention through automation and fixes, executing reliability drills, and defining incident management policies. The role requires strong software and systems engineering skills for large-scale cloud or distributed systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead high-severity incident response, debug complex issues, drive incidents to resolution with clear communication and ownership. Ensure high-quality post mortems reports are created and enforce repair-item SLAs.
  2. Enhance telemetry, alerting, and dashboards using One Microsoft tooling to provide actionable insights and reduce detection time.
  3. Partner with engineering teams to establish and track SLIs/SLOs for critical scenarios.
  4. Lead and facilitate live site health review meetings, translating business requirements into metrics and action.
  5. Translate learnings into proactive tests, product fixes, rollout guardrails, and automation that reduce risk and improve service health.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

  • Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
