Senior Software Development Engineer, Android, to help shape the design system that powers Zillow's Android experience. Build reusable components, frameworks, and tooling that improve quality, consistency, and developer velocity across mobile teams. Influence how Android products are built at scale, including through thoughtful use of AI-enabled development tools, while raising the bar on engineering excellence across the product lifecycle.

What you'd actually do

  1. Architect and build reusable Android components, patterns, and infrastructure using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, including Jetpack Compose, to support consistent, high-quality product experiences across Zillow.
  2. Evolve the Android design system to help developers build faster and more effectively, including through AI-assisted and agent-enabled tooling where it adds value.
  3. Build and maintain tooling that helps teams generate design-system-compliant Android code and improve development workflows.
  4. Uphold a high bar for code quality through technical design, code reviews, testing, and maintainable implementation practices.
  5. Manage the component library release lifecycle, delivering reliable, versioned, backward-compatible updates to support production stability.

Required

  • 5+ years of Android engineering experience
  • strong proficiency in Kotlin
  • Jetpack Compose
  • Android architecture patterns

  • Experience building libraries, frameworks, or reusable component systems
  • strong understanding of accessibility, performance, animation, and Android UI best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, implement, test, and deliver complex technical solutions

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
  • Strong communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
