About the team
The Secrets team is a specialized platform engineering group at Walmart focused on building, operating, and evolving enterprise-grade secrets management solutions. We design and manage Vault products that securely store and deliver sensitive information—such as passwords, API keys, and certificates—to applications and services across Walmart’s global technology landscape. Our team collaborates closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure seamless integration, automation, and compliance, while driving innovation in how secrets are managed at scale. We are passionate about delivering secure, reliable, and developer-friendly solutions that empower teams to move faster and safer.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain tools, services, and automation that simplify operations for secrets management platforms (Vault, Akeyless, etc.)
- Build Kubernetes-native solutions and operators to automate lifecycle tasks such as onboarding, policy management, auditing and monitoring.
- Partner with security, platform and application teams to ensure secret solutions are scalable, resilient, and easy to adopt.
- Improve platform reliability by developing automated health checks, self-healing scripts and operational tooling.
- Develop dashboards, metrics, and alerting for observability of secrets platform health and usage.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code primarily in Golang, leveraging Kubernetes APIs and other cloud-native components.
What You’ll bring:
- B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.S. in Computer Science or relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on automation and platform engineering.
- Strong coding skills in Golang
- Solid understanding of API development (REST and gRPC), with experience building APIs that integrate with MCP.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes internals, APIs, and operator patterns.
- Experience working with secret management platforms (Vault, Akeyless, or equivalents) is a strong plus.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, service reliability, and automation best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (Azure, GCP or AWS) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Helm).
- Familiarity with certificate lifecycle management (cert-manager, Venafi integrations, ingress certificates, or custom operators)
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
