Senior Software Engineer

Fivetran is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Platform Ops team. The role focuses on building and improving developer tooling and environments to enhance developer productivity. A key aspect of the role involves developing AI-based workflows to automate infrastructure operations, improve developer experience, and reduce manual work. The engineer will also focus on observability, automation of common engineering workflows, and integrating tools across cloud environments. The position requires experience in Python/Go, developer productivity tooling, and cloud providers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build internal tools and services in Python and/or Go
  2. Build tooling for our internal developer platform (self-service workflows, shared patterns, developer-facing interfaces)
  3. Add automation and enable developer workflows across all three major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP)
  4. Develop AI-based workflows that improve developer experience and reduce repetitive manual work, including efficiency gains in infrastructure operations
  5. Improve developer feedback loops through better observability (metrics/logs/traces), making failures easier to diagnose

Skills

Required

  • Professional software engineering experience in Python and/or Go
  • Experience building developer productivity tooling (CI systems, build tooling, developer portals, workflow automation)
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong fundamentals: testing, code review, debugging, and operating production services
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-team environment

Nice to have

  • Kubernetes experience
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu), including reusable modules and safe state management
