This role is for a Senior Software Engineer on the Content Platforms team at Disney. The team's mission is to "reimagine the technical ecosystem that empowers The Walt Disney Company to harness its unparalleled storytelling and distribute it around the world." The engineer will be responsible for building tools to empower workflows and reporting on the digital supply chain, working within the Frontend Web and Experience team. The role involves creating and maintaining shared JavaScript libraries and UI components, implementing business logic, code review, and acting as a tech leader. The team is investing in innovative technology for a state-of-the-art content pipeline.

What you'd actually do

  1. Creating and maintaining shared JavaScript libraries and UI components.
  2. Implementing business logic of various tool workflows.
  3. Reviewing others JavaScript and TypeScript code.
  4. Acting as a tech leader for various projects and initiatives.
  5. Employ test driven development and agile development practices.

Skills

Required

  • Extensive experience in frontend web development technologies and principles
  • Extensive experience with JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating, specifically React JS.
  • Experience with task automation (Grunt, Gulp, WebPack, Rollup) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
  • Experience with cloud based software solutions and cloud native technologies such as Amazon ECS/EC2, Fargate, CloudFront.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Lua, Python, shell scripting, Go, or other multi-platform and full stack programming languages
  • Ability to research, learn, assess, and evangelize new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Nice to have

  • Previous work experience in media distribution
  • Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results
  • Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling
  • Experience with React Native
  • Experience with Mobile and/or OTT device app development
