Senior Software Engineer, Marketing Engineering

Postman Postman · Enterprise · San Francisco, CA · Product Engineering

Senior Software Engineer for Marketing Engineering at Postman, focusing on implementing, inventorying, monitoring, and optimizing third-party integrations for web properties. The role involves working with various technologies and stakeholders to ensure speed, compliance, quality, and performance of these integrations. While the core role is not AI development, the company heavily invests in AI workflows and the candidate is expected to use AI tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. About 90% of your time will be spent on third-party integrations: implementing them, inventorying them, tracking them, monitoring their uptime and the veracity of their data streams, and optimizing their performance.
  2. The remaining 10% is where the variety lives.
  3. You'll jump in across JavaScript, TypeScript, a bit of PHP, JSON, YAML, and whatever implementation technique a given platform demands.
  4. You'll sit at the intersection of Leadership, Legal, Marketing Engineering, and our third-party vendors.
  5. All four will look to you to figure it out, and in a way that meets each of their needs.

What the JD emphasized

  • This is not a migration. It is not a zero-to-one build.

  • If you want to deeply nerd out on analytics, engagement, performance, and the craft of getting third-party implementations right, read on.
  • This corner of the ecosystem shifts constantly with each new law, vendor change, and business need, and that's exactly what you find interesting about it.
  • You can step onto an established, functioning system, get up to speed quickly, and start forming opinions about what you see, without needing to rewrite everything to feel ownership.
  • This role has regular exposure to Leadership, so you bring a composed, transparent approach to your work and stay steady when the work gets fast or messy.
  • Based in or near San Francisco. This role is 5 days a week in-office at 1 Market St., non-negotiable.
  • Hands-on experience implementing third-party APIs, pixels, beacons/trackers, and scripts. This is the core to the role, and should not be your first rodeo.
