The Multiplatform team's mission is to enable our first party flagship App developers to build captivating experiences while sharing code across Android, iOS, Web, and emerging surfaces. Our goal is to dramatically enhance developer productivity by minimizing duplicated code, ensuring consistency across platforms, and accelerating time to market through server-driven updates that utilize native UI toolkits. The team supports partners across Google including YouTube, Search, and Maps.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will support the Server Driven UI (SDUI) initiative. The SDUI initiative is focused on Elements and xUIKit. The goal of the initiative is to provide a unified framework that empowers developers to create native-like experiences while offering web-like productivity.
Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience with mobile, or web application development.
