What you'd actually do

  1. Design, implement, and maintain the backend services that make up the Metropolis recognition platform
  2. Participate as a key part of the entire development lifecycle, including ideation and identifying requirements
  3. Moderate technical discussions and evaluate new techniques to ensure our platform is constantly evolving
  4. Leverage best practices in automation testing and deployment to enable rapid iteration and launch of new features
  5. Help build a culture where bugs and mistakes in production are treated as opportunities to improve the platform

Skills

Required

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • advanced-level knowledge of Scala, Java, or a related language
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and software products
  • Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and related technologies
  • Deep understanding of Agile engineering processes, including TDD/BDD and CI/CD
  • Experience with database technologies, especially MySQL and Postgres
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
  • track record of completing projects of large scope independently
