Lead a team responsible for developing system software for storage devices and servers in Google data centers, driving all aspects of development from requirements to monitoring and sustaining. This role involves managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, overseeing a large product budget, and deploying large-scale projects internationally. The team works on areas including information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead a team responsible for developing system software for storage devices and servers in Google data centers; drive all aspects of development including requirements definition, design, implementation, integration, test, release, monitoring, and sustaining.
  2. Discover opportunities for improvements in programs and workflows for better productivity and quality, and help the teams to create and deploy the improvement plans.
  3. Define a team structure, develop skills, offer mentorship, and recruit new members, to cultivate a growth mindset culture and grow the team.
  4. Act on behalf of the team to influence executive decisions, collaborate with partners, define and implement the best known practices, and contribute innovative ideas and skills to the team.
  5. Drive partnerships with various external component suppliers and manufacturing service providers (Contract Manufacturer (CM), Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM), Original Design Manufacturer (ODM)/Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)).
