Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer for the Public Sector Federal market. This role involves being a technical lynchpin throughout the sales cycle, educating and empowering prospects and customers on the Cloudflare platform. The engineer will leverage technical expertise to find solutions, train customers, create documentation, and support customer technology strategy, with a focus on emerging Dept. of Defense & DISA segments. Requires strong technical knowledge of on-premise security, networking, and public cloud initiatives common to US Federal customers.

What you'd actually do

  1. As critical members of Cloudflare’s Public Sector Sales team, Solutions Engineers drive technical discussions and implementations to help generate new business, expand existing business, and keep our customers happy.
  2. In business generation and expansion, you’ll be tasked with qualification of prospect and customer use cases, technical requirements discovery, leading demonstrations, solution identification and design, and collaborative work on proofs-of-concept (PoCs).
  3. For our existing customers, Solutions Engineers are part of a dedicated account team that advises the customer on technical best practices, implementation of Cloudflare products and features, and strategic guidance.
  4. The role is focused on emerging Dept. of Defense & DISA segment within our Federal segment and as such will require some travel, Generally, the role requires 35-45% travel to attend meetings with prospects or customers, attend conferences and other industry events, and to collaborate with your Cloudflare teammates.

Required

  • Demonstrated understanding in internet technologies: OSI Model layers 1-7,Routing TCP/UDP, DNS (authoritative and recursive), HTTP(S), SSL / TLS.
  • Comfortable with SASE frameworks and related technologies such as Secure WEb Gateway, CASB, DLP, SD-WAN, etc.
  • Comfort with on premise infrastructure and networking configurations, including potential legacy systems or methodologies.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role supporting the US Federal Government.
