Role Overview
The BW/HANA Senior Specialist will play a key role in the design, development, and global rollout of SAP BI solutions. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, functional teams, and external partners to deliver analytical and reporting solutions aligned with organizational standards and strategic goals.
The incumbent will participate in end-to-end implementation activities, including requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing coordination, and post–go-live support. A strong focus will be placed on adhering to SDLC standards and lifecycle management processes while ensuring high-quality, scalable BI solutions.
The role will also contribute to ongoing remediation initiatives related to the ECC to S/4HANA migration, working within a diverse, globally distributed team environment. This position requires strong technical expertise in SAP BW/HANA, effective cross-functional collaboration skills, and a commitment to operational excellence and knowledge sharing.
What will you do in this role
. As a Senior **BW/HANA Specialist **you will • Be part of implementation projects and contribute to rollout solutions globally • Participate in requirements‑gathering sessions for Analytical/BI solutions together with senior team members • Review Functional Specifications and identify standard vs. custom development needs • Translate functional requirements into technical design with guidance, when needed • Be responsible for development activities and coordinate selected tasks with external teams • Support and help coordinate testing activities (SIT/UAT) with business teams • Provide post‑go‑live and hyper care support and contribute to knowledge transfer sessions to support teams • Follow company’s lifecycle management processes and ensure adherence to SDLC standards
Currently the SAP BI team is working on remediation activities with regards to ECC to S/4HANA migration. You will work in a diverse environment and collaborate with colleagues from different locations.
What should you have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years project experience in SAP BW and HANA development
- Functional/Business process knowledge of at least 2 SAP subject areas ( Limited to Analytics )
- Strong experience in requirements gathering and analysis in Native HANA and BW on HANA Projects
- Advanced data model expert in SQL based procedures and calculation views with usage of HANA functions
- Work with SDA / SDI related Datasources / Virtual tables
- Project experience in building Table functions, Decision tables and CDS Artifacts in HANA Projects
- Expertise in designing and deploying BW Mixed Scenarios on BW 7.5
- SAP Datasphere/BDC knowledge and experience is a plus
- Experience in S/4HANA migration and impact to BW is a plus
- Has ability to work effectively within a cross-functional, multicultural, team environment and integrate activities with other teams within IT
- Very good communication skills and is open to manage multiple initiatives under a highly regulated pharma environment

Primary Skills
SAP BW and HANA development experience (&+ years)

Strong understanding of HANA data modeling concepts, including:
- Calculation Views
- SQLScript
- HANA functions
Functional and business process knowledge in 1–2 SAP subject areas focused on analytics
Support of testing phases (SIT/UAT) and post–go-live/hypercare activities
Ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural, global teams
Very good communication skills and ability to operate in a regulated pharma environment
Adherence to SDLC and lifecycle management processes
Secondary Skills
- Knowledge of or interest in SAP Datasphere / BDC technologies
- Experience or exposure to S/4HANA migration topics impacting BW
- SAP ABAP programming knowledge
- Experience with SAP BOBJ reporting tools (Web Intelligence)
- Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud
