Senior Staff Electrical Engineer responsible for the development of electronics for Aurora's custom hardware, including collaborating on requirements, defining HW architecture, modeling, building, integrating, testing, and debugging electronics. The role also involves partnering with other teams to mature designs for manufacturing and supporting test infrastructure development. Expertise in product development, system architecture, signal/power integrity, high-speed signaling, and hardware productization is required, along with mentoring junior engineers and optimizing development processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Join an exceptional team of electrical engineers responsible for the development of electronics for Aurora’s custom hardware
  2. Collaborate with numerous internal and external teams gathering requirements, defining HW architecture, modeling, and delivering electronics that achieve performance and product metrics
  3. Build, integrate, test, and debug electronics on the bench and in systems; leverage software tools and advanced test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers)
  4. Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high quality electrical designs to manufacturing; including supporting test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets
  5. Leverage expertise in product development (define/build/test), and have extensive prior experience launching product

Skills

Required

  • bachelor's or master's degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering
  • 10+ years experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Experience working with Mechanical engineering team on board design and device cooling
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, analog electronics
  • High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI/EMC constraints
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization: system, board and chip level implementation
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, leverage Power/Signal simulation/emulation input
  • Expertise with lab instruments (TDR, Oscilloscopes, Analyzers, DMMs, Power Supplies, and E-loads)

Nice to have

  • Experience with custom sensor development and/or network design
  • Knowledge of automotive requirements, safety framework (ISO26262) and qualification processes
  • Experience with both rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing
  • Programming and Scripting (C++, Python or equivalent) experience
  • FPGA/ASIC Design experience
