Shield AI Shield AI · Defense · Dallas, TX · X-BAT Engineering - Propulsion

Senior Staff Propulsion Engineer (TVC) responsible for the Thrust Vector Control (TVC) system on the X-BAT aircraft, covering the full lifecycle from concept to operational support. Requires deep understanding of propulsion systems, hardware development, test planning, and Python for analysis. Experience with UAVs, tactical aircraft, or rocket platforms is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Act as the single-threaded owner for the TVC system, accountable for all technical decisions from concept to flight.
  2. Define and manage system requirements, performance goals, and mechanical/electrical interfaces.
  3. Design and integrate vectoring mechanisms with the engine and surrounding structure.
  4. Lead ground and flight testing of the TVC system, including instrumentation planning, data collection, and performance evaluation.
  5. Analyze control authority, vectoring bandwidth, and dynamic response across the flight envelope.
