Senior Staff Technical Product Owner

GE Healthcare GE Healthcare · Healthcare · Bengaluru, Karnātaka, India · Digital Technology / IT

This role is for a Senior Staff Technical Product Owner at GE Healthcare, focusing on building a secure, compliant, and reliable healthcare data platform for data movement, interoperability, and governance. The role involves owning the product vision, roadmap, and backlog, bridging product and engineering, defining patterns for healthcare standards like HL7 and FHIR, and ensuring secure and compliant data movement from on-premises to the cloud. It also involves shaping the streaming roadmap with Kafka, defining requirements for AWS services, optimizing cloud costs, and ensuring cybersecurity and privacy. While the role mentions 'Hands on experience in Product Management using Gen AI tooling' as a nice-to-have, the core responsibilities are centered around data platform engineering and product management, not AI/ML model development or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own vision & roadmap
  2. Author and maintain Epics, Features, and User Stories with acceptance criteria; ensure traceability to business outcomes and regulatory/compliance needs.
  3. Act as the primary interface between global product managers and engineering leads, ensuring scope clarity, non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, security), and delivery quality.
  4. Define patterns for HL7 v2.x, FHIR - Mapping/translation
  5. Own product requirements for connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, SD-WAN, private links), data in motion (TLS 1.2/1.3, mTLS, certificate rotation), and data at rest (KMS/HSM encryption, key rotation).

Skills

Required

  • 12–15+ years in product management/ownership or platform leadership
  • 5+ years focused on data platforms/streaming
  • 3+ years in healthcare data interoperability
  • Streaming with Kafka (clusters, partitioning strategy, throughput/latency tuning, schema registry)
  • Data security: encryption at rest/in transit, AuthN/AuthZ (OIDC/OAuth2/SAML), RBAC/ABAC, secrets management
  • AWS core data & networking services; secure connectivity from on-prem to cloud (Direct Connect, VPN, private connectivity)
  • Cybersecurity controls and compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare (HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC 2)
  • Healthcare standards: hands-on with HL7 v2, FHIR
  • Roadmap & execution: proven track record translating vision into incremental deliveries; ownership of Epics/Features/Stories and measurable outcomes
  • Cross-functional leadership: success aligning multiple global product managers and engineering teams in a highly dynamic environment
  • Cloud cost reduction: demonstrable wins lowering run-rate and egress costs, optimizing storage/compute, and implementing FinOps practices
  • Communication: excellent written/verbal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice-versa

Nice to have

  • Integration engines (e.g., Mirth/NextGen Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody)
  • EMR/vendor ecosystems (Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, Meditech, etc.)
  • Data governance & cataloguing (e.g., AWS Lake Formation, Glue Data Catalog), lineage, DQ frameworks, and PHI/PII handling patterns
  • Event-driven and API-first architectures (REST/gRPC), Idempotency, Exactly-once/At-least-once semantics
  • Observability tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk,Promethesu, Graffana) and SRE practices (error budgets, SLOs)
  • Hands on experience in Product Management using Gen AI tooling
