Datadog is seeking a Senior Staff Visual Designer to define and evolve the visual language of their product, including AI-driven experiences. This role will establish the visual quality bar, lead exploratory work, and translate visual ideas into scalable design system patterns. The designer will partner with Brand, Product Design, and Design Systems, influence stakeholders, and prototype new patterns. The role reports to the Design Director and is part of a small team shaping the future visual direction of Datadog's platform.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and evolve Datadog’s visual language across product surfaces.
  2. Establish the visual quality bar for the platform.
  3. Lead exploratory and concept work that pushes our system forward.
  4. Translate bold visual ideas into scalable patterns that can live inside a design system.
  5. Partner deeply with Brand, Product Design, and Design Systems to unify expression across product and marketing.

Skills

Required

  • 12+ years of experience in visual and/or product design
  • Experience leading a meaningful visual evolution or rebrand within a mature product ecosystem
  • Strong taste and ability to defend a point of view
  • Ability to translate brand into scalable product systems
  • Systems thinking
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and define direction
  • Ability to influence across design, engineering, and executive partners
  • Exceptional visual craft and product thinking demonstrated in portfolio

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI-driven experiences and emerging AI-driven surfaces
