Senior Structural Analysis Engineer

This role focuses on advanced research and analysis of aircraft structures, leading R&D programs, and managing external CRAD initiatives within Boeing Research & Technology. It requires expertise in composite and metallic structural analysis and collaboration across aerospace, academia, and government sectors.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct advanced research and analysis on aircraft structures, focusing on composite and metallic materials.
  2. Lead efforts to capture and manage external CRAD programs, ensuring alignment with Boeing's strategic objectives.
  3. Collaborate with structures and materials teams as well as Boeing program partners to identify, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems.
  4. Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance the performance and reliability of Boeing platforms.
  5. Establish and lead research programs, guiding teams of engineers to successfully execute projects.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5 plus years of experience capturing and managing external CRAD programs
  • 5 plus years of experience leading research and development teams and programs

Nice to have

  • Linear and Non-linear FEA experience
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and external customers
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Experience in the analysis of aircraft structures, with a focus on composite and metallic materials
  • Experience with defense-related programs and commercial aerospace projects
  • Experience with industry-standard software and tools for structural analysis
  • A track record of published research in relevant fields
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience developing FEA and non-FEA analysis tools, examples include Abaqus UMATS and VUMATS, python scripting, etc.
