Oracle is seeking a Component Quality Engineer to support quality and reliability for storage products and related infrastructure components. This role will be a remote position with a few expected site visits per year, and focus on storage hardware such as SSDs, HDDs, JBODs, NAND-based products, storage controllers, and related server/storage platforms.
This position involves working with leading semiconductor, storage, and manufacturing suppliers across components such as NAND, HDDs, SSDs, JBODs, memory, CPUs, and server hardware. The engineer will interface closely with Oracle design teams, internal and external manufacturing partners, suppliers, and end customers to support product quality from new product introduction through end of life.
- Define, measure, and manage key quality and reliability indicators, including DPM, AFR, RPM, and MTBF.
- Support quality performance across the full product lifecycle, from NPI to EOL.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action with storage suppliers using structured RCCA methodologies, including 8D.
- Analyze failure data to identify symptoms, classify known versus unique failures, and support log and telemetry analysis.
- Partner with suppliers and Oracle internal teams to resolve quality issues and manage turnaround time.
- Review supplier factory data for quality and reliability performance, identifying early warning indicators.
- Support Oracle integration failure MRB disposition and identify supplier RCCA requirements.
- Track critical failures and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Support new product and platform introductions for storage components and platforms.
- Partner with commodity team members to maximize continuity of quality supply.
- Participate in supplier roadmap reviews and storage technology quality assessments.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of PC/server and storage hardware components such as SSDs, HDDs, JBODs, NAND, storage controllers, CPUs, memory, and server platforms.
- Working knowledge of storage product operation, including solid-state drives, hard disk drives, storage enclosures, JBODs, or related data center storage infrastructure.
- Understanding of semiconductor, NAND, and storage manufacturing and test processes.
- Experience with data analysis, data manipulation, and quality metric tracking.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques such as 8D, Fishbone, and related RCCA tools.
- Understanding of statistical process control.
- Ability to work to tight timelines and make sound decisions with incomplete or ambiguous information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong team orientation and desire to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in volume manufacturing or supplier quality engineering.
- Experience supporting storage hardware, NAND/SSD technology, HDD technology, JBODs, or data center storage infrastructure.
- Experience working with external manufacturing partners and global suppliers.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $102,300 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
