Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to ensure the safety and effectiveness of their Altius product line, a versatile platform for various mission types. The role involves developing and implementing system safety program plans, conducting safety analyses (FHA, Fault Tree, SSA), developing safety requirements, managing hazards, leading mishap investigations, and ensuring compliance with military safety standards. Experience with safety-critical systems in defense/aerospace, particularly sUAS, and knowledge of MIL-STD-882E are required. AI/ML software safety experience is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and implement tailored System Safety program plans aligned with MIL-STD-882E and the needs of Anduril & its customers.
  2. Conduct and review complex safety analyses, including FHA (Functional Hazard Analysis), Fault Tree, SCFTA (Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis), and SSA (System Safety Assessments) at system and sub-system level for complex unmanned systems.
  3. Develop safety requirements and collaborate with design teams to implement safety solutions in hardware, software, and system-level procedures
  4. Identify & document hazards for your program(s), manage hazard tracking databases, and drive risk mitigation strategies
  5. Support Development Milestone Reviews such as PDR, CDR, and TRR representing System Safety.

What the JD emphasized

  • Minimum of 8 years Industry Experience as a System Safety Engineer or equivalent engineering background
