Senior Systems Engineer role supporting Australia's defence mission, focusing on the Guided Missile Destroyer Combat System Support Agent (DDG CSSA) engineering team. Responsibilities include leading requirements definition, system architecture, design, integration, verification, and managing technical risks throughout the engineering lifecycle. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, preferably in a Combat Systems Defence environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and perform requirements definition and systems analysis to derive / develop system function, performance and interface requirements.
  2. Lead and perform system architecture and design activities to ensure that the system is compatible with the baselined product and is consistent across all subsystems and that the system design will meet the system level performance requirements.
  3. Lead, develop and maintain system level architecture and design documents as required.
  4. Plan, document and execute integration and verification activities.
  5. Identify technical risks and provide accurate and timely information to project management related to progress status, risks and opportunities.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor level Engineering degree (or equivalent)
  • 8 years prior relevant experience in a Systems Engineering and preferably Combat Systems Defence environment
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of Systems Engineering
  • Experience in an engineering discipline including involvement in one or more of the following practices: Requirements Definition, Design Development, Integration and Verification
  • Strong understanding and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Experience leading mid-sized projects and processes
  • Proven experience communicating with parties within and outside of own work area as well as parties external to the organisation
  • Focus on delivering the best possible outcome and attends to all details required to deliver the right solutions at the right time and commitments are met on schedule
  • Consistent and unquestionable ethical conduct and discretion in all matters, interactions, and agreements with internal and external parties
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance
