Senior Systems Engineer responsible for ensuring high equipment availability and optimizing system performance in a regional distribution center. This role involves using preventive and predictive maintenance processes, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and restoring equipment to service. The engineer will work on building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives, focusing on material handling equipment including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, and AS/RS. Responsibilities include monitoring system health, analyzing data for improvements, conducting technical interviews, and training technicians on safety procedures and troubleshooting techniques.

What you'd actually do

  1. use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and quickly restore equipment to service in support of successful operation of the supply chain facility.
  2. work with other Target engineers and operational partners to optimize the performance and flow of the material handling equipment and will lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives.
  3. serve as an escalated support resource during downtime events, ensuring proper processes and training procedures are implemented as part of root cause analysis, and will proactively monitor the overall health of the building’s material handling equipment.
  4. proactively monitor and maintain the buildings systems, maintaining expertise around all electrical, mechanical and control system communication aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS).
  5. conduct technical interviews for internal and external technician candidates, evaluate technical skills and abilities, and train and coach internal technicians.

Skills

Required

  • Two or four-year Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent degree / experience
  • Available to work all days and shifts (24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation, including holidays)
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
  • Experience with installing and maintaining many types of software and hardware
  • Strong organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks and teams
