About the team The Tax Team at ByteDance helps ensure that our company and all our products are tax compliant throughout different regions and countries. Also, the Tax Team provides support to internal requests and works with multiple different stakeholders to support product and business launches and new features.
About the role We are seeking an experienced tax professional to support tax planning initiatives for our Spanish-speaking Latin America portfolio (including Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and others), based in Mexico City or Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will effectively collaborate with cross-border colleagues and cross-functional teams, taking ownership of end-to-end tax planning projects across the region. We are looking for a highly driven, focused individual who can build strong relationships with internal and external partners at all levels.
- Propose and initiate new tax planning projects, and provide tax advice for ongoing initiatives in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
- Manage external tax counsel across multiple jurisdictions in the region.
- Collaborate with Tax Compliance and Transfer Pricing partners to help ensure ongoing tax compliance.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, particularly within the Finance team.
- Respond to complex internal tax inquiries and provide timely support to business partners on tax matters.
- Monitor and assess legislative developments that may impact tax operations in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
- Analyze judicial and administrative tax precedents affecting the company’s operations and financial positions in the region.
- Report on tax routines and issues to the LATAM Tax Team.
- Provide specialized support to Tax Teams in other jurisdictions, including Headquarters, as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification(s)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Law, with experience in large multinational corporations and/or professional firms.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish-speaking LATAM tax matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with excellent analytical skills.
- High levels of written and oral fluency in Spanish are required for this role. This is essential as the collaboration with LATAM-based stakeholders is necessary to ensure local financial strategy aligns seamlessly with Group objectives, and safeguard capital allocation through cross-border contract review.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Effective oral and written communication abilities; comfortable working in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Preferred Qualification(s)
- Experience with tax audits in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
- Transfer Pricing experience is a plus.
- Tax or Law certification.
