Senior Technical Program Manager, Responsible AI Testing and Child Safety, Global Affairs

Google Google · Big Tech · Mountain View, CA +1

This role is for a Senior Technical Program Manager focused on Responsible AI testing and Child Safety within Google's Global Affairs division. The TPM will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of GenAI safety initiatives, working with various teams like DeepMind, Trust and Safety, and Legal to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation. The role involves defining metrics, driving cross-company alignments, and ensuring product safety for vulnerable users. While the role interacts heavily with AI systems and ML processes, the core function is program management and ensuring safety/quality gates, not direct AI model development or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Combine a strong understanding of AI systems (including prompt engineering, model training, ML, and associated risks) with direct technical competency, including the ability to manage coding tasks and leverage data-driven analysis to solve complex challenges.
  2. Apply advanced structured thinking and critical analysis to decompose complex problem spaces, identify emerging safety threats/vulnerabilities, and apply quality engineering mindsets to resolve systemic issues.
  3. Manage complex stakeholder relationships to drive alignment across product areas. Act as a point of contact for GenAI stakeholders to child safety cross-functional. Synchronize policy updates, engineering cycles, client priorities, and operational capacity.
  4. Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of new/updated child safety policies from ideation to deployment. Coordinate prioritization, sequencing, and timelines for required implementation, including classifier updates, evaluation set refreshes, and revised client guidance.
