Senior Thermal System Architect

Google Google · Big Tech · Mountain View, CA +1

Google is seeking a Senior Thermal System Architect for the Pixel System Architecture team. This role involves defining the next-generation of Pixel products by developing power and performance models, optimizing thermal strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal user experience regarding performance and temperature. The architect will analyze field telemetries and influence hardware and software design decisions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to optimize the user thermal experience for better performances and temperature trade offs.
  2. Develop system-level simulation models (Python) and methodologies to project thermal performance and inform cross-functional decisions.
  3. Conduct detailed analysis of field telemetries (Python/SQL) to drive hardware design decisions and new software thermal policies.
  4. Identify key usage patterns and areas of frictions to influence thermal work streams.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience related to thermal engineering.

Nice to have

  • Experience with power and thermal measurement tools: data loggers, thermocouples, etc.
  • Experience with Android tools such as adb, shell scripts, etc.
  • Experience developing Python scripts, and Python simulation models.
  • Understanding and experience of mobile devices thermal constraints including environmental.
  • Understanding of mobile devices, including both hardware and software, and interactions between the two.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to ramp up quickly and learn new fields and technologies.
