Senior Trial Attorney

This role is for a Senior Trial Attorney at State Farm, a Fortune 50 company in the insurance and financial services industry. The attorney will handle a caseload from inception to conclusion, participate in litigation events, and meet with clients. Responsibilities include handling litigation, preparing reports, trial strategy, case development, and attending trials, mediations, depositions, and hearings. Requires 7+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, with bench and jury trial experience. Must have a J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School and an active law license in Arizona.

What you'd actually do

  1. Handles litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department
  2. Prepare and summarize reports for proceedings
  3. Trial strategy and case development
  4. Attends litigation events including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearings

Skills

Required

  • 7 plus years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense
  • Open to all practice areas of law litigation
  • Bench and jury trial experience is required
  • Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience
  • Trial, mediation, and deposition experience
  • File ownership
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with cases in electronic form
  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
  • Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system
  • J.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, with excellent academic credentials and an active member in good standing of Bar in state of operation.
  • Must have an active law license to practice in state of operation and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
