Senior Xbox Researcher focused on generating consumer insights for game and entertainment experiences, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The role partners with design and development teams throughout the product lifecycle.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner closely with design & development teams to deeply understand and inform product goals and strategies
  2. Develop research plans that involve and engage your team and impact business strategy, product design and quality
  3. Design and execute appropriate research activities to answer relevant design and/or business questions, leveraging and triangulating both qualitative and quantitative methods (observation, interviews, journals, ethnography, surveys, lab studies, instrumentation, etc.)
  4. Bring a wide range of both established and innovative research methods to your work and develop new methods where needed to evolve the desirability of our experiences
  5. Contribute your research and perspective through the entire product design cycle, from planning to implementation to post-release

Skills

Required

  • Doctorate or Master's or Bachelor's degree in HCI, Human Factors, CS, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, UX Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field
  • 1+ years (Doctorate), 3+ years (Master's), or 4+ years (Bachelor's) User Experience Research experience
  • Qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Analyze and present data to influence product design

Nice to have

  • Graduate degree in behavioral or social sciences (psychology, neuroscience, HCI, human factors, sociology, anthropology) or equivalent industry experience
  • Standardized methodologies
  • Interviewing, ethnography, field studies, questionnaire development, survey research, experiments, usability studies, contextual inquiry, instrumentation, biometrics
  • Written and oral communication skills, persuasiveness, compelling group presentations
  • 8 years of hands-on experience conducting UX research, particularly in technology and/or games
  • Experience working directly with leadership and executive stakeholders
  • 10+ years in the gaming industry with insight into game design principles
  • Fluency in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Experience in automation and AI technologies
