Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Section Manager 2 to lead a group of GN&C engineers on the Sentinel Program. This dual-hat role involves both functional management (20%) and technical program responsibilities (80%), focusing on staffing, recruitment, performance management, career development, and ensuring high engineering standards. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of experience, a Secret clearance, and experience in systems engineering development life cycle, Agile, and tools like Cameo or DOORS.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
  2. Responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  3. Work with program leaders in establishing personal, program, and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  4. Provide their subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, discipline, as necessary.
  5. Acquire the necessary computers, equipment and tools to enable their subordinates to perform their work.

Skills

Required

  • STEM Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of related experience or master’s degree with 6 years of related experience
  • US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access
  • 3+ years’ experience with phases of the systems engineering development life cycle
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Experience with Atlassian Products such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • System Architecture in Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (Cameo)
  • Requirements Management in DOORS
  • Verification Planning
  • Interface definition and planning
