What you'd actually do

  1. Managing a functional group comprised of approximately 10-12 mechanical engineers of varying experience levels, including performance management, merit planning, job assignment management/prioritization, career development, new employee onboarding and coaching.
  2. Engaging the functional team with timely flow-down of information and fostering robust collaboration within the team.
  3. Collaborating with project team leads, to support project planning and execution activities, labor and material cost estimation, staffing, design process execution, etc.
  4. Maintaining awareness of each group member’s project responsibilities and performance, providing guidance, and helping them to identify resources needed to overcome obstacles and meet project objectives.
  5. Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of applicable design processes, guidelines, policies, and best practices, and ensuring that all functional team members are aware of and are compliant with these items.

Skills

Required

  • STEM Bachelor's Degree
  • 8 years of related experience (or Master's Degree with 6 years)
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in the different phases of the electro/mechanical engineering lifecycle
  • Experience with CAD modeling standards, techniques, and tools
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools

Nice to have

  • 1+ years' experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Demonstrated success in functional management, project management, or similar technical leadership role.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) & Control Account Management (CAM) techniques, and responsibilities.
  • Experience with the design and development of electrical cable harnesses, distribution boxes, mechanical disconnects, and fluid delivery.
  • Knowledge of aircraft-type cable assemblies, MIL type wiring and components such as MIL connectors, back shells, relays, switches, indicator lights, and terminal junction system components
  • Experience with cooling systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Siemens Teamcenter, and Siemens NX
  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009
